New here obviously, looking for a few general answers. So in order to run mods on the wii u you must have them on an SD card correct? If you remove the SD card does that revert your wii u back to stock? ex. Want to test some textures so I load the SD card, then later can I remove it so I can play games online? And lastly I have done a lot of modding for other games and was wondering if anyone has a link to all of the character .dds files so I can do some photoshop work on them and make new textures? sorry for all the questions and thanks for the replies.

Yes removing your SD card ,reverts it back.

For you .dds files, you get those your self, by extracting them from the model.nut. You can do all the modifying you want after that. As for .png of most of the game textures, you have the model resource and spriters resource for that.

Do you have the dds plugin? (I’m referring to photoshop) If not you need that to be able to open it.
If that is not your problem, I would look or continue to ask around.

Long time Kien. Right now I’m a jack of all trades besides modeling itself. I would like to join, really into texture and interface work so I’ll be there for awhile. Go ahead and add me to that recruit list.

When you get the dds file from the model.nut and open it, the stock icon picture is usually an all block square. Delete the entire square and insert the image you want and save it. Dds formats are below.

    Format 0 and 1 – DXT1_ARGB or DXT5_ARGB

    Format 2 – DXT3_ARGB

    Format 14 – ABGR_8888

Seems easy enough. When the site expands, I’m sure new rules will be added correct?

I like the set up of this site, it’s extremely relaxing and easy to navigate.
